How much bloating is normal with IBS? Not to be super graphic but here is a picture of my bloating,

Doctors are insisting that it's "just IBS" but I've never met another IBSer with so much bloating. I am IBS-C, but even with regular bowel movements nothing changes. It's 38 inches around my waist (measuring right around my bellybutton)

Am I just fat? I went from a size 5 or 7 up till now I can barely fit an women's 12 around my waist. Then everything is hugely baggy everywhere else because no where else on my body am I size 12.

This NEVER goes away. I've gained twenty pounds in the last year. I am NOT pregnant (I've done tons of at home tests and gone to the doctors... Not to mention the fact that it's been like this for a year now)

Is this normal? Anyone have any ideas?

Your legs are so tiny...your stomach is totally unproportionate! My stomach looks like that too but I'm heaver than you (I think). I'm constantly bloated as well.

Are you constipated in that picture? How many days? Also, if it is just fat, that is a very dangerous area to hold excess weight in.

I really am like a size 5 everywhere else on my body. It's so unportionate to the rest of me.

This is a whole body shot:

To be really blunt, I've had smallish BMs several times in the last 3 days here. My waist size never fluctuates, even if I don't eat for a day. so if it is some food intolerance, it's definitely got some build up.

I know it is, which is why I am trying to deal with it. I don't eat THAT horribly. My food habits haven't changed in the last year, so I'm not sure why my belly has so much. :/

according to medical literature, bloating up to 12 cm is common in IBS and that was only one study. I have had this problem massively and I've almost gotten it completely down by eating a paleo diet with lots of soluble fiber, supplementing omega-3 flax seed oil, and getting off the pill.

http://community.livejournal.com/ibs/476599.html is my original post on the subject. Good luck!

Ugg!! thats what my tummy looks like right now! LOL

I'm 20, had IBS for 3 years now... bloating is normal, are you finding it uncomfortable to breathe? ....

I'm a size... 6-7 i would say, when there is no bloating, but i can easily fit into a size 11-12 some days... you are IBS-C which would explain it...

Not to be weird, but if i cant ask these questions here, where can i?
Do you eat a little of fiber? when you first start on fiber, a lot of bloating can occur, but will go up and down somedays as your body digests...

Also, passing gas?
That is probably the biggest (no pun intended) cause of bloating.

I'm studying to be an RD (Nutritionist) so i get to ask these questions a lot :)
