22nd-Nov-2006 08:40 pm - Embarrassment, really.
love-heart bunny, hug
I have my IBS under control for the most part (it is mild- but as I always say about that and other conditions, "If that's mild, I don't want to know moderate or severe"). However, I improved my IBS through diet, and then I went through a broke period, and in just a couple of weeks of not buying the same food, I was having problems again.

Luckily the pain had gone away by then, and most of the stool problems, but I have still been having flatulence problems. It is so embarrassing, particularly since everyone knows it's you. I was teaching class on Saturday and I kept farting! My students knew it was me, was giving me look and even whispering to each other. I wanted to run from the room. The average person farts 14 times a day, but they are minor so the person is unaware. Believe me I was aware! I counted 10 in a 8 hour period. And believe me, my class was aware.

I also get all shy over the days I spend more time in the bathroom than I do at my desk.

How do you handle the embarrassment part of the illness? I am getting through the other stuff- slowly getting everything under control except this...

Hello everyone!

My name is Ashley, and I'm the Volunteer Coordinator for my local branch of the CCFC.

I just wanted to say hi, and wish everyone the best of health, and also bring a couple things to your attention.

First, check out the Kitchener-Waterloo CCFC myspace page! Feel free to add us as a friend, whether you're from KW or not. Anyone in the CCFC who's familar with myspace - I strongly urge you to make a myspace for your branch! It's a great way to spread the word, promote events, recruit new volunteers and connect IBD sufferers!

CCFC KW Myspace!

Also, if you're a Candian Facebook user, I think you should check out the CCFC group! It's a great place to connect IBD suffers, connect CCFC chapters, and share fundraising and event ideas!

CCFC Facebook group!

I look forward to chatting with you all!

PS - I know IBS and IBD aren't the same but...it's all bowels!

Hello everyone,

This community has become sort of quiet. I realize that I just don't have the time to work on it anymore. I'm pulling a more than full time load at school and seem to be to busy to work on everything I want to here.

So, unless it starts getting active in here I'll either delete the community or leave it to the other mod to take over.

Hope the bowels are behaving!

I was waiting at a red light this afternoon next to a Penske Rental Truck. Their slogan is "Dedication at every turn." I misread it as "Defecation at every turn!"
17th-Oct-2006 11:41 am - Running for a great cause
Redhead biting fingernail

Hello all!

I'm running a 5k race for the Canadian Arthritis Foundation.  It's called the Jingle Bell run for Arthritis.  It is taking place on November 5th.

If  you would please be kind enough to pledge some money to a very worthy cause, I would greatly appreciate it.  The more money I get, the faster I will run!!!!  Even five bucks would be great.  You could afford five bucks, couldnt you?  It's for the kiddies!!!!

Click This Link to sponsor me online.  Pretty Please?

If this is against the rules, then please delete, I won't be offended.  I just thot since it was for charity, it would be okay.

28th-Sep-2006 08:18 am - Small Bowel X-Ray Series
audrey hepburn
Well, today's the day I go to the hospital for my small bowel x-ray series. My understanding is that I drink some barium and then they turn me every which way but loose taking x-rays of my small bowel once the barium has moved through my system. This test is supposed to rule out Crohn's Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and a bunch of other stuff. Although if it turns out I don't have these diseases, we're back to square one again. It's not that I want to have the diseases, but I do want to know what the hell is wrong with me so they can figure out how to treat me and I won't be sick all the time!

Hey, I am new so I thought that I should introduce myself.

More about me under the cut..Collapse )

I have been now having IBS problems since some months, and in between I managed to deal with it quite well. However until now, I have been having a hard time to find proper information on the internet on the fact itself. Since two months I have started throwing up every now and then as well.

Is there somehow some kind of food that one should definately avoid or is it different with every person? Or is there any medicine that might help along?

Edit: Thank you for all the great comments! I am sure to keep a diary from now of what I eat and drink, and see what I find out from that. Thanks again!

Hello all!

I know it's been far too quiet around here.

I've got a new LJ - it's "Notmyamerica" (obviously without the quotations)

So I'll be deleting this journal and maintaing the community from there. FYI :)
